    • San Diego, lovingly referred to by locals and visitors alike as “America’s finest city,” is known for its miles of sandy beaches, year-long temperate temperatures, and fun and unique activities. While visitors can really enjoy themselves any time of the year, some months are better than others, depending on what you want out of the experience.

San Diego beachesIt is important to know that weather-wise, San Diego temperatures stay on average between 55 and 70 degrees most of the year. The hottest average months are July and August and the coldest are December through January. Although San Diego receives little to no snow, it does receive rain. The highest average-rain months are December through February, so if you are planning to go the beach, those months would not be your best bet. With that said, and considering many of San Diego’s most alluring attractions are connected to the ocean, we have decided on June or July as the best month to travel to San Diego.

    • San Diego Zoo

In June, you will see lower average hotel and attraction costs than in July, as July and August are peak tourist seasons. June will have average weather conditions around seventy-two degrees, with a good deal of sun. June is also filled with fun events in San Diego, including night visitation at the San Diego Zoo, and the Rock n’ Roll Marathon Series, which brings live music to town. Additionally, the San Diego County Fair begins in June, which will provide the all- American experience of rides and lots of fried food. Additionally, June is a great time to book activities such as fishing in the San Diego Bay, or Horseback Riding the San Diego beaches.

      • Pride parades in San Diego

We chose July as the second-best month to travel to San Diego, because although it is peak tourist season, it is also the perfect weather. If you want the classic sunny San Diego beach days that are warm enough to swim, but not too hot to sit on the sand, then July is the perfect time. Additionally, July is filled with all the fun that is summer in San Diego, including fireworks for the fourth of July (The Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show is pretty famous), Pride parades in San Diego, and it is also the Del Mar thoroughbred racing season. July is also the perfect time to take on-the-water adventures such as cool sunset cruises and private sailing trips.
