How Long To Rent A Paddle Board For

    Back to Blog

    Stop Searching, Start Vacationing

    • If you’re looking to have fun on your next vacation, you and your guests may enjoy renting a paddleboard. Just about every rental company offers the following options:

      • - Hourly rentals
      • - Half-day rentals
      • - Full-day rentals
      • - Weekly rentals
      • - Paddleboard tours

With these options, it’s understandable not to know how long to rent a paddleboard for. In this article, we’ll briefly look at the advantages and disadvantages of each rental type.

    Hourly Rentals

If you’re looking to get your feet wet (pun intended), then an hourly rental is the perfect option. Most rental shops offer paddleboards for hour-long excursions and additional hours based on availability - usually at a reduced rate. If you’re new to paddleboarding or just looking for some quick fun on the water, then an hourly rental is the best option for those looking for a short adventure. Best of all, it is the cheapest option.

The main disadvantage of hourly rentals is that you may end up spending more time becoming acquainted with the board than actually enjoying the experience. Paddleboarding has a bit of a learning curve and requires a bit of finesse to enjoy. Once your time’s up, you may wish you signed up for more time.

    • Half-Day Rentals

Half-day rentals are great for newcomers and intermediate paddleboarders. You can explore the water at your own pace, having adequate time to get your sea legs, take pictures, and have a great time.

As the second-most expensive option, renting a paddleboard requires a bit of forethought and commitment to enjoy genuinely. By spending half a day - typically 6 hours - most amateur paddleboarders will start to tire out or want to try another activity for the day. And despite sunblock, most people will feel sunburned and fatigued on long outings. You’ll have to factor in meal times, bad weather, and when to return the board. If something should occur where you can’t return the board in time, expect late fees.

        • Full-Day Rentals

For real enthusiasts, full-day paddleboard rentals enable you to take full advantage of the day. You can pick and choose when you want to go on an adventure at your leisure.

The only drawbacks to full-day rentals include pricing. It may be more cost-effective to book shorter timeframes, especially during the hectic pace of your vacation when you’re trying to cram as much activity in the day as possible.

        • Paddleboard Tours

      • Paddleboard tours are also a great way to experience the fun with a guide. Rental fees are usually included in the tour price, so you can learn the in’s and out’s of paddle boarding while also visiting different areas. Many paddleboard tours are geared towards nature lovers, such as ecology tours or bioluminescent tours.

The only drawback to going on a paddleboard tour is that they tend to be a bit pricier than standard rental times. And there is also the luck of the draw, where you might be paired with other guests to make it financially worthwhile for the tour company.
