Hosted by Vineyard Trust, you will discover the backstories and literary heritage of such famous writers as Herman Melville, Emily Post, and many other literary luminaries in a two-hour walking tour led by a knowledgeable guide. See historic sites and architectural wonders that inspired and housed famous wordsmiths. Plus, you will collect words and phrases along the walking tour that will be used at the end of the tour to complete an ekphrastic poem.

    African-American Heritage Trail Walking Tour

    Martha’s Vineyard Walking Tour

    Occurs: April through to October

    Duration: Variable based on tour (i.e. the full tour is 4.5 hours, though most run 1.5 to 2 hours)

    African-Americans have strong cultural roots in Martha’s Vineyard dating back several hundred years.
