    Built on the original homestead of the area’s early settlers, Sedona Heritage Museum offers a wealth of education and entertaining exhibits for the entire family. Take a guided tour or an audio-assisted self-guided exhibits to learn how Sedona was founded, the origin of its vibrant orchard industry, motion pictures filmed in Sedona, and the story of the town’s namesake, Sedona Schnelby. The museum regularly offers special events, like the Oak Creek Canyon History Roundup, that are led by professional historians.

    Sedona Trolley

    History of Sedona AZ276 N State Rte 89A B, Sedona, AZ 86336

    Named “The Best First Thing to Do” in Sedona, riding the Sedona Trolley can satisfy history buffs and sightseers alike. The trolley takes you to historic landmarks and gives tourists an appetizer for all that there is to do in town with a fully-narrated tour. Two 55-minute tours are available to not only provide an understanding of the area’s rich and storied history, but also a chance to view unforgettable vistas and endless photo opportunities:

    • - Tour A lets you experience the South side of Sedona, passing Tlaquepaque’s Art district, culminating in a 15-minute visit at the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross.
    •  
    • - Tour B takes you around the West side of Sedona, passing formations such as Chimney Rock and Thunder Mountain, and viewing the red rock walls of Boynton & Fay Canyons.

    Both tours are available for those that want to see it all and are great fun for the entire family. And for those that want a stunning display of nature, be sure to make reservations ahead of time to ride the trolley during its popular Sunset Tours.
